Bucharest Court of Law on Monday issued an arrest warrant for 29 days on the names of Harry Mironescu, the onwer of Sabyc clinics, his son Yair Miron, resident doctor at the clinic and Cecilia Borzea, customers relations director, the three being accused of being the “heads” of an international human egg trafficking network in which Sabyc clinic is involved. Another 30 Israeli people have been arrested.

According to the Department for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) in exchange of 800-1,000 RON, Sabyc clinics collected ovocites from the Rroma women and used them for in-vitro fertilization.

According to the investigators Harry Mironescu, as gynecologist and head of the clinic set up the human cell trafficking. Harry Mironescu had his son's support, Yair Miron, as unique partner of the private clinic as well as connections with Israeli doctors, specialised in assisted human reporduction techniques, the accused L. Natan, Z. Genia as well as other people.

Cecilia Borzea was carrying on according to DIICOT, the formalities related to the accomodation of the doctors and the beneficiaries of the IVF techniques and was attracting directly or by intermediaries young women willing to undergo the treatment for ovarian stimulation and egg collection.

During the criminal activity other people joined the group and the DIICOT prosecutors ordered the beginning of the criminal pursuit against 22 of them.

When DIICOT arrived at the clinic there were 30 women from Israel who were undergoing treatments were getting ready for the fertilzation. The police also discovered at the clinic in Piata Victoriei a catalogue with fake details about the donors, where their origin is not mentioned and their physical features were modified. Most of the donors were Rrom women aged between 15 and 30 , according to DIICOT prosecutors. They were donating ovocites only after following a hormonal teatment under the surveillance of Sabyc clinic doctors.

The clinic performed approximately 1,200 in-vitro fertilizations in the past years, according to the clinic's website. Moreover, at least a few hundred couples, mainly from Isarael and Germany benefited from the services of the clinic against amounts between 10,000 and 15,000 Euro.

The president of the Romanian Doctors Colleg, Vasile Ast?r?stoae stated that what happened at Sabyc clinic is unhuman, illegal and imoral .

Israel general consul to Bucharest, Lilly Ben Harush, received details about this incident Sunday evening and the Israeli authorities confirmed the information related to the arrest of her conationals. The industry of the human eggs collected for Israeli women increased in the past few years, especially abroad, as the Israeli law forbids the donation of eggs with or without money. Private clinics from Romania, Ukraine, Cyprus, Spain or other European countries are thus used for this purpose.
