A felháborodást kiváltó akcióban a rendőrök a South Shore nevű városrészben igazoltatták a férfit, aki a rendőrség későbbi közleménye szerint "egy fegyveres személy jellegzetességeit mutatta", és amikor a rendőrök közeledtek felé, megpróbálta ellökni őket magától és elmenekülni.
